Nurturing art for and by the people, where they live and work.

2929 24th Street – Abner Nolan

A New Museum

Description: Nolan has created a highly polished display space for curating everyday materials and objects collected in and around the immediate neighborhood. Using strategies of both museology and retail marketing, the Museum creates a public space for otherwise functional, personal or disregarded objects - as well as a venue for formal interventions in the surrounding environment.

Artist: Abner Nolan is a San Francisco-based artist and educator. His work has been included in exhibitions at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the Nelson Gallery at UC Davis and SF Camerawork. In 2006, Nolan produced a series of posters for the San Francisco Arts Commission's Art on Market Street program, and a monograph of his work was published this year by TBW Books. Nolan is currently an adjunct professor in the photography program at the California College of the Arts.
