Arts Education
The San Francisco Arts Commission's Arts Education program is dedicated to enhancing learning and teaching through the arts. The Arts Education program works in collaboration with school administration, teachers, parents, funders, artists, and arts organizations all committed to a quality education for all students in San Francisco. Leveraging City resources, SFAC brings together these stakeholders to work towards a common goal of ensuring that the arts — theater, music, visual arts, literary arts and dance — are returned to their rightful place at the core of academic rigor for every student.
Arts Education Funders Collaborative
The Arts Education Funders Collaborative (AEFC) is a public-private partnership dedicated to increasing and improving instruction in the arts in San Francisco public schools. SFAC staff administers the programs of the AEFC which include professional development trainings for teachers (PreKk through 5th grade), grants to schools, publications, educational forums, and special events and projects. AEFC along with the SFAC serves as a clearinghouse, disseminating relevant resources and information to the field.

The SFAC is partnering with the SFUSD and citywide stakeholders invested in a quality public education, to develop a plan that details a comprehensive sequential, standards-based arts education for every San Francisco student. Once adopted by the Board of Education, the Master Plan will be required curriculum in all SFUSD schools.
