YMCA Bayview Community Night

Join the SFAC and YMCA Bayview for a community night celebration on Friday, May 17th from 5-7pm as we celebrate our third year of Where Art Lives youth art programming. What else? The YMCA will share information about their summer youth program options, free food and drinks for all, and music/dance performance by Zulu Nation of Oakland.

New Grant Opportunity for Bayview Hunters Point Artists and Organizations!

We are seeking artists, arts organizations, and nonprofit social service agencies with existing arts programs in the Bayview Hunters Point community. Grants may be requested for up to $10,000 to grow an existing arts program, help build the organization’s capacity with skill-building workshops throughout the year, and create a network of peers amongst the awardees. Applications are due June 17.

3rd on Third Arts Celebration

On Thursday, June 20, the Bayview will come alive with a community-wide arts celebration. 3rd on Third, a reference to the third Thursday of the month and the event location, Third Street, will feature a myriad of activities for the whole family.

Opportunities for Artists in Bayview

The San Francisco Arts Commission (SFAC) and San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) announce a partnership to bring a robust suite of art enrichment activities to the Bayview. With a two-year funding commitment from the SFPUC, the SFAC will provide expanded access for Bayview residents to create and participate in vibrant cultural activities throughout the community.

Commissioner John Calloway to Receive the 2012 “Jazz Hero” Award

San Francisco Arts Commissioner Dr. John Calloway will be honored as the 2012 Bay Area Jazz Hero at the National Jazz Journalists Association annual Jazz Awards.

SFAC Awarded $83,000 in Grants from the National Endowment for the Arts

Today the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) Chairman Rocco Landesman announced its fiscal year 2012 grantees. Among the winners are two San Francisco Arts Commission programs. WritersCorps and San Francisco Arts Commission’s The ARTery Project are among the recipients.

Daniel del Solar Memorial
