The “Where Art Lives” Graffiti program promotes the value of caring for public space and creating public art for the community. This project for fourth to sixth grade classes has several curriculum objectives that correspond to the California State Content Standards.
For the third session of “Where Art Lives,” Moberg created this video of himself lettering to teach perspective, which the students then applied to their own drawings.
The new curriculum aimed at educating youth about the negative impacts of graffiti will be implemented in six San Francisco Unified Schools.
The San Francisco Arts Commission, in collaboration with the Department of Public Works, launches the “Where Art Lives” Graffiti Pilot Initiative.
Over the course of the 2009-2010 school year, six elementary and middle schools will participate in this new program aimed at educating students on the differences between community art and vandalism.
