Get Involved
WritersCorps is committed to providing opportunities for young people to use language as a positive tool for making meaning in their lives. Here are ways you can help us reach more young people:
Teach
Since 1994, over 100 teaching artists have served in WritersCorps. Our long-term, in-depth model gives teaching artists what they need to inspire youth to improve their writing skills and grow as individuals. Our teaching artists are chosen through a competitive application process, paid an hourly rate and given allowances for supplies. Teaching artists applications are due in June for positions starting in the fall. Click here for more information.
Read our Books
WritersCorps publishes anthologies of student work as well as guides with lesson plans developed by our teachers. Our books are available for purchase on our online bookstore. You can also special order our books from any bookstore. Retailers can order our books from Small Press Distribution.
Donate
There are few greater joys than the sight of a room full of youth who are seeing their name in print for the first time, or watching students grow with self-confidence through newly-found creative expression. Every little bit of support we receive makes a difference. Your donation will go directly toward supporting our teachers and students. Donations are tax-deductible.
We are also happy to take donations of media equipment, supplies and books. Click here to learn how to donate funds or supplies to WritersCorps.
Volunteer
Sometimes we need help with coordinating events, creating publications or stuffing envelopes. We generally do not offer opportunities to work directly with our students — we leave that to our teaching artists — but we do need help with various supporting projects. Want to find out more?
