Flor y Canto en el Barrio
July 24th, 2008 by AdminIt’s time for the SF International Poetry Festival. This installment of the festival is called Flor y Canto en el Barrio: A Celebration of Latino Poetry — and it begins tonight.
Lots of people will be reading, including Alejandro MurguĂa, former San Francisco Poet Laureate Jack Hirschman, Daisy Zamora, Lorna Dee Cervantes, Alfredo Arteaga and Roberto Vargas.
Two WritersCorps peeps will be reading as well. Milta Ortiz, a WritersCorps teaching artist, will be reading at Mission Cultural Center 7 p.m. tomorrow (Friday the 25th) in a reading called “Nuestra America I.” Leticia Hernandez, who is on our advisory board, reads the following night (Saturday the 26th), same time, same place.
The festival goes through Saturday, and takes place in venues all over the Mission. Everything is free and open to the public. For the schedule, visit Friends of the San Francisco Public Library.
