Making New Things Before Us

Thursday, January 11th, 2007

As the world turns I walk on it.
Before the sun moves we’re out there
Covered with light
Discovering new things with the world around us
Every day.
Forgiving people for the bad things they’ve done.
God’s city is covered with candles and light.
Horror dragons digging holes down, down to the ground.
Igloos frozen like an ice cube floating on water.
Jaguars running faster than ever, with
Kangaroos hopping around.
Lions roaring louder than ever before as we’re
Making new things before us.
Never been seen a golden apple dropping into someone’s mouth.

    TelltheWorld-small

“Tell the World” is a collection of writing by WritersCorps students across the country. With a range of voices and diverse perspectives, “Tell the World” gives an honest glimpse into the lives of young people today. With a foreword by Sherman Alexie, two essays by WritersCorps teachers, and writing prompts, this book shows how poetry can allow us to tell the world who we are, where we’re from, what we love, and why we hope. See why the New York Times recommends “Tell the World.”
