This Place Called Poetry Market Street Posters

April 2nd, 2009 by Admin

This Place Called Poetry was an art exhibition celebrating 15 years of WritersCorps. The show contained art, audio, film and interactive elements. Together, they told the stories of 11 WritersCorps students who, through writing, found a place for themselves and embarked on a lifelong journey of creativity. The show ran at the SFAC Gallery from November 2008 through January 2009.

Now the show has moved from the gallery to the street. Drawings of WritersCorps students from the show are featured in posters on San Francisco’s Market Street. Each poster shows a WritersCorps student and an excerpt from his or her poem. See the posters online on flickr. Or better yet, see them in person. The posters will remain up through July 2009.

You can still experience the show online, as well. Please click on the links to the left to access the films and audio from the show. A good place to start is Meet the young writers featured in This Place Called Poetry.
