Marvin White was a WritersCorps teacher during the 1998-1999 program year, teaching at the Girls After School Academy. He is a poet, performer, and visual artist who has designed and implemented creative arts programs at various non-profit arts organizations in the Bay Area. His first poetry collection, Last Rights, was published by Alyson Publications in 1999.

Maiana Minahal taught for WritersCorps from 1998 through 1999. During her tenure, she taught at the Center for Young Women's Development, Career Resources Development Center, and Central City Hospitality House. Born in the Philippines, she emigrated to the U.S. when she was six years old. She is a poet whose writing career began in 1994 at University of California at Berkeley when she was a member of June Jordan's poetry collective, Poetry for the People.

Alison Seevak taught for WritersCorps from 1998 to 2001. Her sites were Mercy Services and Newcomer High School. She is a poet who has taught creative writing to young people at community art centers, after-school programs, and public elementary schools throughout the Bay Area. More bio >>

Cathy Arellano has taught for WritersCorps since 1998, teaching at Mission High School, YWCA Mission Girls Services, and Loco Bloco. She is a San Francisco-born, Mission District-raised writer of poetry, fiction, and nonfiction. More bio >>

Russell Reza-Khaliq Gonzaga taught during the 1999-2001 WritersCorps program year at Ida B. Wells High School, Phoenix Middle School, and the Columbia Park Boys and Girls Club, Excelsior Unit. He is a poet, writer, and performance artist who was awarded San Francisco's Certificate of Honor and Mayor Willie Brown declared May 10, 2000 Russell Gonzaga Day.

Chad Sweeney enters his second year with WritersCorps this fall, teaching at Everett Middle School and Mercy Services. He is a published writer of poetry, short fiction, and essays. More bio >>
