Something to Live For

Silence sweeps the room.
I can feel the fire,
the fiery rage
that makes me
   think shady.
I know I should go
   calm myself down.
I know my peace
   has to come
from looking in the eyes
   of my newborn baby.
So I sit with her
   by the window
and watch the stray dogs
   play on the hillside.

If I didn't have
   my baby girl
I might go insane.
When I think about her
I think about life,
and there goes the sound
   of a passing train.
