Last week, on May 9, more than 100 youth packed the lower level of the Main Library for WritersCorps WordStorm, our annual year-end celebration. We unveiled new anthologies, comic books, cookbooks, newspapers, hand-made books and more, featuring writing by our students. Teens also got the chance to take part in different hands-on booths, where they could make a button, film a clay animation (courtesy of Children’s Creativity Museum), make a journal by hand, record their work with a radio professional, or contribute to a mega group poem. The evening ended with a reading by students from their new books. Thanks to J. Astra Brinkmann for taking these photos.
