Jona Frank’s photography examines the cliques, social hierarchies, and stereotypes that pervade the American high-school experience. Frank spent three years traveling across the country photographing hundreds of students outside of their specific social groups, resulting in a series of 42 portraits entitled, High School. Portraits from this collection have been acquired by the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and have been exhibited nationally.
Frank has exhibited her work in Bay Area Now 3 at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and has more recently exhibited at the California Museum of Photography in Riverside, Sherry Frumkin Gallery in Santa Monica and at Triple base Gallery in San Francisco. Frank received an MA in Film Production from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles.
