Putting the C in Clog – The Clog as Catalog

Kristina Lewis, install closeup

As we begin this experiment that is The Clog, we thought it best to launch with the traditional components that make up an exhibition catalog. Armed with information about the artists, the exhibition and the specific works of the show, readers can jump into the Obvious with an essay by Zachary Royer Scholz.

Scholz graduated from CCA in 2009 with an MA in Visual and Critical Studies and an MFA in Fine Art. His art practice as well as his writing draw some particularly close lines to the work and ideas presented in Isn’t It Obvious?. Zachary and I have also led parallel academic lives for some time now without ever working together so I thought it was about time we met and collaborated on this site. Zachary’s essay is a well-paced introduction into the exhibition and some of the specific work in the show. It serves almost as a navigation tool for viewing not the work in this show, but the work we may or may not notice all around us everyday.  (To learn more about Zachary Royer Scholz click here.)

During this weekend, we will be adding more and more information about the artists in the show and upcoming events. We will also be posting some more writing and some surprises as well, so stay tuned! Get Clogged!
