Charles Porter IV

Charles Porter IV

Charles Porter IV is best known for his work following the Oklahoma City Bombing that garnered him the Pulitzer Prize for spot news photography in 1996. Circulated by The Associated Press, Porter IV's image featured firefighter Chris Fields gently cradling infant Baylee Almon who had been fatally injured by the events of the day. As an amateur photographer employed by a local bank, Porter IV was at that point virtually unheard of in the news sector. Since its publication, however, his photo has become an iconic testament to an American tragedy.
