Tino Rodriguez was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico, where he was influenced by the art he encountered in Catholic churches. Rodriguez's paintings offer an eclectic ensemble of hybrid creatures, human forms, and fantastic backgrounds that play with reality and an erotic, at times violent, dream world. Influenced and inspired by poet Rumi, Jean Cocteau, George Bataille, world mythology and natural science books, Rodriguez's neo-classic style is seldom reflected in the contemporary art world. For the La Otra Voz (series) Rodriguez started with the same print and individually painted, collaged and worked each piece to create 20 unique artworks. These one of a kind pieces were created in collaboration with Electric Works, CA.

His work has been exhibited at numerous venues including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and Jan Baum Gallery in Los Angeles. In the spring of 2003 his solo exhibition The Darkening Garden/El Jardin al Anochecer was presented at the San Jose Museum of Art. Rodriguez studied at the Sorbonne in Paris in 1990 and received a BFA from the San Francisco Art Institute and an MFA from the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.
