Hence, this document describes the programs that were implemented at the fours sites and identifies the critical factors for success and pitfalls that they sites encountered in the hope that other institutions might learn from their experiences.

Summary of Findings, An Inquiry into Key Elements of Successful Arts Residencies and Professional Development Needs of Artist-Teachers in San Francisco Unified School District Classrooms (June 2007)

For the past 15 years, the AEFC has focused its attention on providing arts education professional development workshops for pre-Kindergarten and elementary school teachers. Now, new funds from the state are enabling the district to make a significant investment in professional development for its classroom teachers. Consequently, in 2007-08, the AEFC is winding down its programs for district teachers.

While the AEFC no longer will function as a funders collaborative that manages a program of its own design, individual members of the AEFC remain committed to the goal of delivering high quality arts learning experiences to students in the San Francisco Unified School District. This report and the consultant's related notes will inform their future work with arts providers and intermediaries.
