Status: Full-time, Exempt
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Working closely with members of the enrollment team, the Assistant Director is responsible for the successful recruitment and enrollment of an assigned segment of SFAI's prospective student population, including domestic and International students, Graduate, Summer MFA, Post-Baccalaureate, Undergraduate and other populations. In addition, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing and maintaining a liaison responsibility with an assigned SFAI program, such as Pre-College, High School or Community College Partnerships.
This full-time position is based in San Francisco and requires extensive travel during the fall and early spring. Flexibility and willingness to work evenings and weekends is required.
1. Responsible for developing leads, managing inquiries to achieve effective contact management, and conversion of inquiries to applicants, applicants to admits, admits to matriculating students.
2. Consistently conduct follow-up with all applicants. Maintain records of contact and produce contact reports as scheduled by the Director.
3. Serve as resource for prospective students to provide information on programs, application process and policies.
a. Develop and maintain knowledge of undergraduate programs to support recruitment enrollment of undergraduate freshmen and transfer students.
b. Develop and maintain knowledge about Graduate, SMFA and Post-bac programs to address inquiries, answer questions from applicants, and support faculty admission process, recruitment and conversion of students.
c. Develop and maintain understanding of key issues affecting international student applicants and serve as resource for international students through the enrollment process.
d. Develop and maintain understanding and disseminate information about the key financial resources available to prospective students to manage SFAI costs.
4. Meet defined enrollment targets for each recruiting period.
5. Participate in recruitment and enrollment activities, including: open houses, regional recruiting events, National Portfolio Days, Graduate National Portfolio Days, new student orientation, high school and/or community college visits as assigned.
6. Evaluate portfolios and applicant materials; interview students on and off campus.
7. Review and make admission decisions on applicants for admissions in undergraduate programs. Support admission review process for graduate, SMFA, and post-baccalaureate programs.
8. Participate in undergraduate portfolio-based scholarship reviews.
9. Act as liaison with an assigned program; work with programs to develop and maintain positive relationships and enrollment leads.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
• BFA or BA required, major in an arts discipline is strongly preferred.
• Outstanding verbal, writing and presentation skills. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with students, faculty, staff and all constituencies involved in the recruitment of new students.
• 2-3 years experience in admissions, enrollment, or sales preferred.
• Knowledge of the regional and national arts community is preferred.
• The ability to work independently and as a team member.
• Strong working knowledge and understanding of established professional codes of ethics and related principles of good practice for Admissions professionals.
• Demonstrated commitment to the values of access, inclusion and diversity in higher education and the admission process.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Knowledge of both state and federal financial aid is preferred.
• Proficiency in computer skills including MS Word, Excel, databases, electronic communication, the Internet and web based applications.
