The Contemporary Jewish Museum seeks energetic, creative Museum Educators to lead interactive exhibition tours.
Duties:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Upon successful completion of training, Museum Educators lead interactive exhibition tours children, adults, and families. Museum Educators facilitate hands-on art activities in the Museum's Education Center as needed. Other responsibilities may include:
• Learning necessary Museum, architecture, and exhibition-related content
• Developing hands-on art projects
• Collaborating with teachers and/or group leaders to create customized tours
• Leading activities during family programs and other public education events
• Setting up and cleaning up for tour groups
• Maintaining materials and supplies
Upon successful completion of training, Museum Educators lead interactive exhibition tours children, adults, and families. Museum Educators facilitate hands-on art activities in the Museum's Education Center as needed. Other responsibilities may include:
• Learning necessary Museum, architecture, and exhibition-related content
• Developing hands-on art projects

• Setting up and cleaning up for tour groups
• Maintaining materials and supplies
Candidates must be available to participate in 4-6 paid training sessions in advance of each new exhibition. Training sessions are held on Tuesday evenings.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Training:
• Degree in art, art history, museum education, education, museum studies, or a related field preferred
• And/or currently a graduate student in one of the above fields
Work Experience:
• Professional experience leading tours in a museum setting or equivalent teaching experience
• Experience leading hands-on visual art activities for children preferred
Skills and Abilities:
• Some familiarity with conversation-based museum education strategies (i.e. the inquiry method, VTS) and multiple learning styles
• Willingness to learn and implement Contemporary Jewish Museum tour style and techniques
• Knowledge of Modern and Contemporary Art
• Knowledge of or interest in Jewish traditions, history, or culture
• Knowledge of Hebrew preferred

The Museum Educator position is a part-time, contract position. Weekday and weekend shifts available. Hourly salary commensurate with experience.
