Storytelling Exchange and Tech Tales

The Storytelling Exchange helps 6th graders tell their own stories while building lasting writing, reading and communication skills. Streetside facilitators use storytelling and theater to inspire students to write true stories about their lives. The Exchange partners with middle schools and teachers-each workshop spends two weeks in a classroom. The program meets multiple language arts standards and supports the language arts curriculum. Each year, student stories are published in a colorful paperback anthology.

Tech Tales helps middle school students write stories about their lives, then transform them into short movies or digital stories. The program builds writing, communication and media arts skills. Tech Tales brings a mobile media lab into schools and community centers, helping students learn computer and project management skills. The program meets multiple language arts standards and supports the language arts curriculum. Each student will received a DVD with their class' movies and selected student work is included in the end-of-the-year DVD compilation.
