Arts Commission Debuts “Sights and Sounds of Central Market Podcast

In an effort to encourage people to explore the Central Market neighborhood, seasoned multimedia producers researched and crafted stories that cut through the negative stereotypes of the neighborhood to feature the beauty and humanity of Central Market people and places. The podcast focuses on two blocks of Central Market that have recently been activated through dynamic arts programming under the auspices of The ARTery Project. These downloadable videos and audio segments bring depth to an underappreciated neighborhood.

Press Release: Art in Storefronts Returns to Central Market

Now in its second year, Art in Storefronts (AIS) returns to Central Market with six storefront installations and five murals. The latest in The ARTery Project’s efforts to revitalize a once-vibrant commercial corridor, the program temporarily places original art installations by San Francisco artists in vacant and under-used storefront windows and exterior walls.

Art in Storefronts Returns to Central Market, Call for Entries

Artists interested in applying for Art in Storefronts may download the guidelines and application from the Arts Commission’s website at http://www.sfartscommission.org. An application workshop will be held on Wednesday, February 16 at 6:00 p.m. at the luggage store, an Art in Storefronts community partner, located at 1007 Market Street. The deadline for submissions is Monday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m.
