WritersCorps and the San Francisco Arts Commission are pleased to announce the publication of City of Stairways: A Poet’s Field Guide to San Francisco. This unique travel book about San Francisco was edited by writer Milta Ortiz and created by students in WritersCorps, a creative writing program for youth.
During the StreetSmARTS’s 2010 pilot year, seventeen murals were created throughout San Francisco and at six public school sites. The San Francisco Arts Commission’s 2010 photography interns captured every step. The outcome of their work is STILLmatic!
Mayor Gavin Newsom today launched the Art and Storefronts pilot program, a new economic development initiative in Central Market and the Tenderloin. The program engages San Francisco-based artists to reinvigorate neighborhoods that have been hard-hit by the economic downturn.
