After being recognized with a prestigious national award by First Lady Michelle Obama at a White House ceremony last fall, WritersCorps, a project of the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Public Library, has been invited back to the White House for a day of poetry events hosted by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama.

WritersCorps, a project of the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Public Library, was recognized with a prestigious national award by First Lady Michelle Obama at a White House ceremony on Wednesday, October 20. The award honors WritersCorps for its effectiveness in developing creativity and fostering academic success by engaging young people in the arts and humanities.
WritersCorps and the San Francisco Arts Commission are pleased to announce the publication of City of Stairways: A Poet’s Field Guide to San Francisco. This unique travel book about San Francisco was edited by writer Milta Ortiz and created by students in WritersCorps, a creative writing program for youth.
San Francisco WritersCorps celebrates the release of new writing at the 2010 WritersCorps WordStorm on Wednesday, May 26 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Koret Auditorium of the San Francisco Public Library, Main Branch (100 Larkin at Grove).
WritersCorps and the San Francisco Arts Commission are pleased to announce write/walk, a public literary arts project in collaboration with Mission District businesses and organizations. write/walk is a walking tour of poems, displayed on colorful art posters in Mission storefronts, written by eleven young poets who attend WritersCorps workshops at Mission High School.
