Arts Commission Seeks Artists for New Public Art Works at City Branch Libraries
The San Francisco Arts Commission is accepting applications from professional artists for the creation of new public art works for several new or renovated branch libraries in the city. Selected candidates will be assigned to a pool of prequalified artists, some of whom will be chosen for the projects as they come up during the next 18 months. The application deadline is Monday, March 4, 2002. For application forms, call 415-/252-2594, or download from the Arts Commission website. The library projects are limited to Bay Area artists who work in a wide variety of media, including mixed media, sculpture, ceramics, functional art, or two-dimensional artwork. Women, artists of color, and artists with disabilities are encouraged to apply. The new art works will be commissioned in accord with the city’s art enrichment ordinance, which provides for an art enrichment allocation equivalent to two percent of the construction budget of any new or renovated public building or other civic improvement project.
