Peripheral Visions, artwork posters by artist Jason Jagel reflecting the Market Street environment, will be installed in 24 kiosks on Market Street between Van Ness and Embarcadero from Monday, November 15, 2004 to Thursday, February 10, 2005.

Artist Tour: Saturday, November 20th at 2 PM .
Meet artist Jason Jagel at the southwest corner of Market and Third Streets for a walking tour of his six poster designs.

The Peripheral Visions poster series is printed from six original paintings, each depicting human, animal and fantasy characters in urban settings. The images may be read as episodes in a fictional story about negotiating life in a metropolis. The posters are filled with many specific Market Street references, as well as other imaginative details, inviting repeated viewings, as does Market Street itself.

Jason Jagel has exhibited his work most recently at the Richard Heller Gallery, in Santa Monica, CA, and in Miami, FL, and as part of a group exhibition titled Comic Release that has been exhibited at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA; the Regina Gouger Miller Gallery at Carnegie-Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA; and Center for Contemporary Art in New Orleans, LA. He was the recipient of a Eureka Fellowship in 2000, and was included in Bay Area Now in 1997 at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Bay Area Awards Show in 1996 at New Langton Arts, CA, both in San Francisco, CA. Jagel received his M.F.A. from Stanford University in 2002.

Peripheral Visions is part of the San Francisco Arts Commission’s Art on Market Street Kiosk Poster Series, which brings contemporary artwork by Bay Area artists year round to workers, shoppers, and visitors on Market Street.
