Poster Exhibition

July 16 to November 8, 2007 in the Market Street triangular kiosks between Van Ness and the Embarcadero.

Artist Helena Keeffe has created six original poster images in collaboration with six Muni drivers to reflect each driver’s experience on her or his daily bus route. Each poster image consists of a drawing of the driver, excerpts from an interview with each driver, and drawings based on photographs taken by the artist while traveling on each of the driver’s routes.

Artist Walking Tour

Thursday, July 26, 20072 at 5:30 PM.
Meet at the southeast corner of Market and Third Streets with artist Helena Keeffe and several of the participating Muni drivers for a free walking tour to view and discuss the poster exhibition. The walk will take approximately one hour, ending at the Embarcadero.

Bus Cards

In conjunction with the poster exhibition, bus cards adapted from three of the poster images will be installed on various buses throughout San Francisco for several weeks later this summer.

Artists

Helena Keeffe creates art projects that are collaborative, involving varying groups of people, and that invite public interaction. For example, she has coordinated a series of clothing exchanges titled The Garment Remake Exchange between groups of people in three sets of two cities, where people exchange personal clothing items which are remade and returned to them. Currently, she has received a Creative Work Fund Grant to work with residents of Lagunda Honda Hospital to create textile patterns for nurses’ scrubs and hospital linens. She has also been commissioned by the City of San Jose to develop a downtown audio tour, ending at the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Forum where she will make a quilt to cover the backdrop for the podium.
