Lights On Tampa, a public/private partnership between the City of Tampa’s Art Programs Division and the private sector, is pleased to announce its call to artists for Lights On Tampa 2009.
Lights On Tampa (LOT) is a biennial program that brings free access to artistic excellence. Tampa is a progressive city that welcomes new ideas. It is a city committed to the arts, technologies, and recognizes that collaboration brings great energy to a city. The LOT Program is looking for a balance and variety of artwork, both permanent and temporary that includes opportunities for public interaction, ability to be viewed from multiple locations, and artwork that function optimally at different times of day. Installations should be primarily informed by technologies that are about, made of, generate, or use light as a primary medium. LOT 2009 opens January 10, 2009. This is high season for tourism and conventions, and three weeks before Tampa hosts the Super Bowl XLIII.
Sites
All installations are located will be highly visible locations. Sites currently under consideration include, but are not limited to: the Tampa Convention Center, private development multi-use structures (including building caps), historic architecture, riverfront parks, bridges, tunnels, construction sites, and major tourist attractions such as the Florida Aquarium, the Tampa Bay History Center and possibly Raymond James Stadium. Also under consideration is a permanent gateway installation. Web-based artwork is also under consideration. For additional information please visit: www.lightsontampa.org

Artists are selected by a jury to create temporary and permanent exterior installations.
