Internships

Interns play an important role in the Public Art Program at the San Francisco Arts Commission. Each intern is paired with a staff member who works as their mentor in completing projects for the Public Art Program. We provide orientation, training, evaluation and recognition of our interns. We view our Internship Program as an educational outreach service that helps to expand and diversify our community interaction. Interns gain valuable experience and insight into the structure and operation of a governmental arts agency and make useful professional contacts. Interns must be willing to commit 8 hours/week for a minimum of three months and may receive school credit for their work. All internships are unpaid.
For initial contact, please email a letter of interest and resume to Zoe Taleporos at zoe.taleporos@sfgov.org or fax to 415-252-2595. For questions, call 415-252-3215. Your letter of interest should include the following: what skills and abilities you bring to the position, what experience you would like to gain from your internship, and the dates you will be available.
Because the staff works closely with our interns we are only able to work with a few interns each year and the selection process is somewhat competitive.
Volunteering
**There are no volunteer opportunities in the Public Art Program at this time.**
If you would like to be considered for future volunteer opportunities, please email your resume and a description of your interests to Program Associate Zoe Taleporos at zoe.taleporos@sfgov.org. We will keep your resume on file and contact you when such opportunities become available. Volunteer work within the Public Art Program may be used to work off Project 20 hours.
