BACKGROUND:
This fall, the new Laguna Honda Hospital resident buildings will open for occupation, and the facility’s some 800 residents will move into their beautiful new facility. The Hospital provides care, housing, and support services for .a large population with a diversity of medical, nursing, physical, social, and cultural needs.. The resident population includes individuals who require long term care, rehabilitation services, and hospice care. The complexity and diversity of the individuals served, and the strong feeling of community among the residents, staff and volunteers, is what makes Laguna Honda a unique institution. Among the many patient amenities the new hospital will provide is a large and diverse art collection made possible through the city’s art enrichment ordinance which mandates 2% of the construction cost of capital projects be allocated for art.
