Artist Michael Bartalos’ Proposal for Mission Playground

The artwork proposal which may be downloaded from this page is the work of Mission District resident and artist Michael Bartalos who was selected to develop designs for eight to ten fence panels which will be fabricated out of metal, painted and permanently installed at Mission Playground along Valencia and 19th streets in conjunction with the upcoming playground renovation project.

Bartalos is an accomplished printmaker, sculptor and graphic designer who has exhibited his work internationally and has authored many limited edition artist books. In September 2008, his design for a 42-cent Latin Jazz stamp was issued by the U.S. Postal Service. For more information about the artist visit www.bartalos.com.

The Mission Playground artwork proposal will be presented to the Arts Commission’s Visual Arts Committee for review and approval on April 21, 2010*.  The meeting starts at 3 p.m. and is open to the public.  If you are interested in commenting on the artist’s proposal, you are invited to attend this meeting.
