Mark Brest van Kempen has created posters of six life forms surviving in the downtown Market Street neighborhood, including, with a Peregrine Falcon, a moth, a hornet, moss and stunted grasses, a rat and a cowbird.
The Endangered Seed is an exhibition of individual portraits of nearly extinct corn seeds. These corn species have adapted over centuries to thrive in different environments, providing a rich variety of corn plants now threatened by current agricultural practices.
Artist Abner Nolan has collaged historic photographs taken shortly after the devastating 1906 earthquake and fire in San Francisco with San Francisco newspaper headlines taken a few days prior to the earthquake.
“What’s New?,” a series of posters by artists Julio Morales and Claudio Michelo, is inspired by Herb Caen’s introduction to his book Baghdad by the Bay, in which he surveys San Francisco residents about daily life in the Bay Area.
