Arts Commission Seeks Proposals for Market Street Poster Exhibitions

The San Francisco Arts Commission is accepting applications for commissions to create and produce original poster designs for exhibition on Market Street kiosks during the year 2003. The poster exhibitions are sponsored by the Commission’s Market Street Art in Transit Program. The application deadline is Monday, July 1, 2002. The 2003 kiosk poster series will consist of four consecutive exhibitions on view for three months each in triangular kiosks along Market Street between the Embarcadero and Van Ness Avenue. Posters reflect one or more aspects of the character, culture, environment or history of San Francisco’s three-mile main street.
Commissions are open to Bay Area artists with experience in painting, drawing or photography. The successful candidates will be responsible for producing camera-ready artwork and arranging for all production and printing.
The purpose of the Market Street Art in Transit program is to present work by local artists to pedestrians while giving the artists an opportunity to reach audiences outside traditional gallery or museum settings.
