Book Release and Signing: O Glorious City by Jeremy Fish

“San Francisco o glorious city of our hearts that has been tried and not found wanting. Go thou with like spirit to make the future thine.” – Edward Robeson Taylor, 28th Mayor of San Francisco

Inscribed in the great rotunda of San Francisco’s City Hall, artist Jeremy Fish found the title to his forthcoming book, O Glorious City: A Love Letter to San Francisco. Join SFAC Galleries, Chronicle Books, and local artist Jeremy Fish for the much anticipated launch of this book of drawings commemorating the 100th birthday of San Francisco’s City Hall.

Built in 1915, San Francisco’s City Hall is iconic. Gorgeous and stately, it symbolizes the great potential of our city and its inhabitants. In honor of its centennial in 2015, the San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries invited artist Jeremy Fish to produce a project commemorating this moment in history.  As the first ever artist in residence at City Hall, Fish produced 100 drawings over the course of 100 days from his tiny office just inside the South Light Court. Taking inspiration from the city as he does in almost all of his work, Fish’s drawings in O Glorious City incorporate former mayors, cultural figures, iconic landmarks, architectural elements, and the neighborhoods of San Francisco.

As a thank you to the City and his fans, Fish will produce a limited edition bookmark to be given away with the first 100 books sold at the event. Books can be purchased at the event or pre-ordered via Chronicle Books now.
