Exhibiting artist Sun Park joins forces with writer London Pinkney and BaZi astrologer Forest Lin to host a writing workshop at Winslow House Project in Vallejo, CA.
In this workshop, participants are invited to recall and reimagine their personal spiritual and religious experiences with a focus on the element of water. They will explore how we evolve symbols over time as a way to gain autonomy over our own sacred narratives. Informed by Korean and Gullah traditions, we will decolonize “myths” by presenting them as expanded realities that are part of our divine lineage of knowledge. Together and in response to Chinese BaZi astrology which is based on the five elements--wood, fire, earth, metal, water--we will consider ways of rooting spiritual practice in the elements. BaZi astrologer, Forest Lin, will be onsite for a limited number of readings.
Lunch provided. Carpool available.

Chinese Astrology, known as the BaZi 八字 or 4 Pillars of Destiny, is based on ancient Chinese cosmology and Five Elements theory. Each of us are imprinted with a unique combination of universal energies. By understanding your own BaZi, you discover the foundational building blocks of who you are and what/how you are here to serve.
Sun Park is a visual artist and writer based in San Francisco. Sensory overload, disassociation, collective effervescence, stimming: Park responds to bodily sensations that signal the connection between internal and external environments, the porous boundaries where identity is formed and altered. Park’s work is informed by their experience with the white Protestant church, Korean shamanism, and Bay Area landscapes. Park holds an MFA from SFSU, is a member of the Dong Ji Collective, and has presented work at /room/ (slash gallery), SWIM gallery, and Southern Exposure, among others. Lately they have been performing stand up. www.sunparkparksun.com
