Program Description

Flyaway offers GIRLFLY, a summer program for low-income teen girls, and KIDFLY, offered in schools and afterschool programs. KIDFLY offers low income, culturally diverse youth new awareness of the physical body, and mentorship in advocacy projects focused on social justice awareness. GIRFLY combines dance and activism, focusing on issues affecting young women. Flyaway works with community partners QUESADA Gardens and College Track in the Bayview neighborhood, and CounterPULSE in the Tenderloin.

Program Description

Our mission is to ignite a Compassion Revolution by putting girls center stage. In Go Girls! Camps, rising 1st- through 6th-grade girls make and perform their very own peaceful and powerful plays that teach and reinforce social/emotional skills. The camps are led by a team of highly trained theater teaching artists, expressive artists, renowned guest artists, and the coolest teen and pre-teen assistants. Golden Thread’s Fairytale Players is an ensemble touring company with a repertoire of educational theater performances based on stories from the Middle East. Handful Players is a free children's musical theater program based in San Francisco's Western Addition. Professional teaching artists conduct workshops on acting, singing, dancing, storytelling, costume and set design.
