Art Proposals for the Alex Pitcher Room at the Southeast Community Center

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose artwork for the Alex Pitcher Room of the new Southeast Community Center to be located at 1550 Evans Street. The Alex Pitcher room is a multipurpose event space that will be rented out for birthdays, wedding, meetings, and other events. The goal of the artwork is to celebrate the Bayview community—its people, values, history, and culture.

Art Proposals for the Main Lobby at the Southeast Community Center

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose artwork for the Main Lobby of the new Southeast Community Center to be located at 1550 Evans Street. The new Community Center is designed to provide workforce, childcare, and educational opportunities for the Bayview community. The goal of the artwork is to celebrate the Bayview community—its people, values, history, and culture. Additionally, the artwork for the Main Lobby may honor the six founders of the Southeast Community Facility.

Art Proposals for the Mint Plaza Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose an artist or artist team to create lighting or sculptural elements to be located at Mint Plaza along Jessie St. between Fifth and Mint St. The artwork is intended to activate the plaza in the evening so that the space is more welcoming to enter at night. Five artists were chosen as finalists by a Public Art Selection Panel to create site-specific proposals for this artwork opportunity: Future Cities Lab, HYBYCOZO, Haddad | Druggan, IwamotoScott, and Shan Shan Sheng.

Art Proposals for the 49 South Van Ness Forum Sculpture Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose an artist to create a sculpture or a series of sculptures for the outdoor entry forum to be located at 49 South Van Ness. The new City building will be a 16-story tower on 11th Street between Market and Mission Streets housing the City’s permit center, building inspection, and offices of the Planning Department and Public Works. The artwork is intended to create a sense of place, as well as delight and visual engagement for the building’s users.

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose artwork prefunction gallery wall in the entry lobby of the new City building to be located at 49 South Van Ness. Geneva Powerhouse Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is working with The Recreation and Parks Department to commission public artwork(s) for the renovated Geneva Powerhouse facility, which is located at 2301 San Jose Avenue. The goal of the public art project is to create a signature artwork for the redesigned Powerhouse that will inspire and engage arts programming participants and the community in general, enhancing their connection to the historic building.

Yerba Buena Island Hilltop Park Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is working on behalf of Treasure Island Development Authority to commission a large-scale public artwork for Yerba Buena Hilltop Park, which is to be located at the top of Yerba Buena Island. The newly commissioned artwork is intended to enhance the viewer’s experience of the natural setting and function as a focal point for the built landscape. This work will be monumental in scale whether through its verticality or through a horizontal series of related sculptural installations.
