Proposals for the Sculpture Honoring Dr. Maya Angelou at the San Francisco Main Library

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose an artist to create a sculpture honoring the life and legacy of Dr. Maya Angelou to be located at the San Francisco Main Library. The artwork is intended to honor one of the most significant literary artists and activists of our time, and will be an ever-present role model and inspiration to girls and young women. While most of the sculptures in the City’s collection that honor individuals recognize white men, the sculpture of Dr.

Treasure Island: Building One Plaza Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is working on behalf of Treasure Island Development Authority to commission a signature public artwork for Building One Plaza, which is located at Avenue of the Palms and California Avenue. The newly commissioned artwork is intended to acknowledge the importance of the landmark Building One, while marking the transitional nature of the site through the use of contemporary materials and styles.

Treasure Island: Waterfront Plaza Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is working on behalf of Treasure Island Development Authority to commission a monumental public artwork for Waterfront Plaza, which is to be located on Avenue of the Palms by the causeway entrance of Treasure Island. The newly commissioned artwork is intended to be a beacon and mark an important point of entry to the island, greeting residents and visitors upon their arrival. This work will have an iconic presence and be grand and bold.

Artwork for the Margaret Hayward Playground Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission held a selection process to choose an artist to produce a two-dimensional artwork for the Margaret Hayward Playground Community Building. The goal of the project is to create a signature artwork for the renovated Margaret Hayward Playground that will inspire and engage the site users and enhance their connection to recreation and to the neighborhood. Emory Douglas was selected to create site-specific work for this opportunity. 

Art Proposals for the the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing Administrative Offices Public Art Project

The San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose an artwork for the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing’s new Administrative Offices and Client Access Point at 440 Turk Street. The project involves the remodel of an existing building at 440 Turk for the purposes of serving as administrative offices for the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing (HSH), and providing certain client services.

Art Proposals for the Traffic Company and Forensic Services Division Public Art Project

The facility will be shared by the San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Company and Forensic/CSI Division.

Art Proposals for Fire Station #35 Public Art Opportunity

FS35.jpgThe San Francisco Arts Commission is conducting a selection process to choose artwork for new Fire Station #35 at Pier 22 ½. The Fire Station will consist of a new two-story fire boat station, which will be built on top of a steel float and anchored by six guide piles. San Francisco Fire Department's three fireboats and rescue watercraft will be moored at the new floating facility.

Art Proposals for the Plaza and Gardens Outdoor Sculpture Opportunities at the Southeast Community Center
