Youth Art Exchange sparks a shared creative practice between professional artists and public high school students, furthering youth as leaders, thinkers, and artists in San Francisco. This is conducted through year round programming, which includes: In-School and After-School Arts Classes; Summer Stipended Arts Internship Program; Year-Round Paid Internships: Youth Advisory Board, Teaching Assistants, Alumni Intern; and Culminating events, exhibits, and performances each session.

Young Rembrandts (YR) teaches drawing, the basis of all visual arts, in a fun and nurturing setting that ensures success for every child. YR lessons combine basic drawing techniques, portraiture and cartooning skills by exploring different themes and subject matters. Students will improve core learning skills while delving into a favorite subject matter. And yes, all that learning comes with a big bunch of fun. YR strives to enrich our community by passing along the joy of ART!

YPT’s Theatre Arts academy teaches children as young as three years old the fundamentals of dramatization and instructs older children in acting, performance, and musical theatre. Advanced students from the age of nine are invited to audition for main-stage plays, where they have the opportunity to work alongside adult actors in a professional production. The Academy also sends teachers into schools to conduct acting and creative play workshops.

Young Audiences of Northern California makes art happen in schools and community venues every day. Our mission is to create arts experiences that inspire young people, expand learning, and enliven communities. Working closely with a roster of world-class, community-based teaching artists, we serve children and young adults, preschool through high school, their teachers, and families, in both public and private schools as well as in community and after-school settings.

CCA's Young Artist Studio Program (YASP) is an exciting, intensive studio experience for students who want to explore the visual arts in a professional art school setting. Eligible students will have just completed the sixth, seventh, or eighth grade.

The YBCA Young Artists at Work Program is a paid, multidisciplinary art-as-activism residency for teens at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. Within the residency model, YBCA provides resources, space, aesthetic inspiration, and collaborative community to support young people who self-identify as artists and activists to produce their own original social justice art projects. The Young Artists at Work are proud to be the next generation of creative thinkers and social changemakers.

WritersCorps is a project of the San Francisco Arts Commission and the San Francisco Public Library that places professional writers in community settings to teach creative writing to youth.

UpStar Records is a youth-run record label aimed at turning today’s hip hop enthusiasts into tomorrow’s digital technology leaders. This innovative workforce development program provides youth employment and leadership opportunities. Trained by a cadre of talented industry professionals, youth get hands-on experience recording, mixing, mastering, releasing, distributing and promoting their own music and videos.

Trash Mash-Up (TMU) is a community art project. Using disposable materials, collected before they enter the waste stream, participants construct 'Maskostumes' which are original pageant masks and costumes inspired by traditions from around the world. TMU reduces waste and inspires people to see each other and our environment in a new way.

Todd Berman is an artist who has been working in education ever since moving to San Francisco 16 years ago. In that time, he has become an expert at engaging teenagers in the creative process. Berman works with teachers to integrate visual arts practices into curricula to make lesson plans more engaging and meaningful for students to comply with Common Core Standards. He can help you can bring your entire community together to collaborate on one engaging and meaningful art project.
