Program Description

We host workshops, museum visits, and hands-on art projects. Students have access to art objects and materials and the tools for thinking critically about their meanings. Through observation, inquiry, and interpretation, students build across subject areas, meeting state standards in visual arts, language arts, and social sciences. Trips range from a one-time guided tour of an area of the collection to a three-part program including class prep, guided tour, and art project.

Program Description

SCRAP is a creative reuse warehouse and workshop space dedicated to diverting materials from landfills into the hands of teachers, artists, nonprofits and others who can creatively reuse them. SCRAP's depot holds treasures galore: fabric, paint, paper, toys, frames, plastic, wood, and glass, all at low or no cost. SCRAP also hosts workshops, field trips, materials giveaways for teachers, volunteer events, exhibitions, and outreach activities.

Program Description

senseofplace LAB creates photo-based art projects using science, history, and literature to investigate "sense of place." Our educational component develops workshops and events in collaboration with schools, institutions and groups. For instance, a recent project marked where an underground creek is in downtown San Francisco. Director Laurie Halsey Brown has 20 years of art education experience and has worked with all ages. Recently, she was Program Director for Art With Elders.

Program Description

Shakespeare On Tour performs at schools, libraries, and community centers all over California. The troupe arrives with set, costumes, and props to stage a show at your location! At the end of the show (just under an hour long), performers take questions from the audience. In advance of the performance, 15 one-hour lesson plans (indexed to state standards) are sent to educators. Optional PLAYSHOP may be added for a one-hour, hands-on experience that will deepen student appreciation of the show.
