Program Description

The Bayview Opera House currently provides arts education and cultural enrichment to San Franciscans on a low- or no-cost basis. Program Description

At the Build San Francisco Institute, students join instructors in a real architecture studio to work on real projects centered in a major San Francisco construction project. High school juniors and seniors earn credit in two classes: Environmental Science and Architecture and Design. Two afternoons each week, students meet with professionals on a one-to-one basis to discuss their projects. Classes are held in the Build San Francisco studio located at 901 Mission Street.

Program Description

Since 1964, California Poets in the Schools (CPITS) has become one of the largest writers-in-the-schools programs in the nation. We serve students K-12 in over 31 California counties, stretching from Humboldt and Siskiyou to Inyo, Mono, and San Diego, in districts both urban and rural. Each year, CPITS reaches thousands of classrooms, teaching in public and private schools, juvenile halls, after-school programs, hospitals, and other community settings.

Program Description

I have ten years' experience initiating and coordinating youth music projects and musical-cultural exchange worldwide. I specialize in classical music, El Sistema music education, and the traditional musics of Ireland and Mexico. I am interested in both teaching music and languages, and in organizing/coordinating music projects in communities. I hope to be able to use my extensive international network to arrange cultural musical exchanges between foreign and Bay Area music groups.
